BSB –Bayerische Staatsbibliothek
Redesign study project of the corporate identity for the Bavarian State Library in Munich.
The institution is filled with cultural-historical, creative & modern media. From books, pictures and music to exhibitions and other events the public library is a public treasure trove for everyone.
This redesign presents a desired state which should make the library more accessible to the public. Citizens should be motivated by the new appearance to go to the library rather than just researching on the internet. The new design follows a simple construction kit which follows a clear design line. Recognition value and adaptability are made possible.

Logo
The dynamics of the S should reflect the scope of the library.
Custome Typeface
The extravagant design language of the letters is intended to show the library’s extensive and diverse collection. In addition, the institution, which appears reserved to the general public, should appear more accessible.
Flyer
The simple graphics of the book spine on the cover and the custom font ensure clear communication and recognition value.
ID
Graphic on front with custom typeface.
Signage System
The base is formed by square extendable panels. These are designed to be easily interchangeable and thus enable simple and sustainable adaptation to the constant changes in the library. In combination with the custom font, this results in a uniform and unique system.
Bag
Every member of the library should receive a bag with their ID. This will again show the graphic on the front and the membership number on the back. Each bag is therefore individual and should motivate people to visit this great institution more often.
